Batch #86 (!) - Koelsch

Made based on recipe from Zymurgy, March/Apr, 2012, page40: Saison Tropicale by Brewmaster of Craft Brewing, Co, Costa Rica.

Started batch on Jul 22, 2012:

Recipe:

  • 6.0 lb Gold Malt Extract (Midwest Supplies)
  • 1.5 lb Briess Wheat (dry)
  • 2.0 oz hop pellets (Tettang, 3.7% alpha) 60 min
  • 1.0 oz hop pellets - finishing (Saaz, 3.8% alpha) 10 min
  • 1 tbs Irish Moss, last 15 min
  • Wyeast 2565 - Koelsch
  • 1 pkg Safebrew US-05 after 24 hrs
  • Specific gravity ~1,052

Procedure:

Sanitized everything with Star San. Boiled wort for 60 minutes and then cooled down with cooper coil cooler. Pitched yeast at 75F to conical fermenter.

Progress log:

  • Jul 23, 2012: No fermentation after 24 hrs. Sprinkled package od US-05.
  • Jul 17, 2012: Racked to glass carboy.

Evaluation:

  • Jun 20, 2011: Delicate and very tasty.
