Batch #83! - Scottish Ale (Brewer's Best kit from Ian and Sarah)

Started batch on Jun10, 2012:

Recipe:

  • 3.3 lb Amber Muntons Ale LME
  • 1 Lb Amber DME
  • 4 oz. Caramel 60L
  • 4 oz smoked
  • 4 oz Chocolate
  • 1 oz Roasted Barley
  • 0.50 oz hop pellets (Cascade, 6.4% alpha) 40 min
  • 0.50 oz hop pellets - aroma (Cascade, 6.4% alpha) 5 min
  • Winsdor (dry ale type)
  • Specific gravity 1,0??

Procedure:

Sanitized everything with Star San. Steeped grains in 160F for 20 minutes.Boiled wort for 40 minutes and then cooled down with cooper coil cooler. Pitched yeast at 30C. Kept in basement temperature (~68)

Progress log:

  • Jun. 11, 2012 - Fermentation in the evenning every 2 sec.
  • Jun. 12, 2012 - Fermentation done.
  • Jun. 13, 2012 - Racked to secondary.
  • Jun. 27, 2012 - Kegged.

Evaluation:

  • Jul 07, 2012 - very good beer. Ben, Hania, Zweifels liked it very much. No much hops nor alkohol but very tasty.
  • Jul 31, 2012: Gone. Has to be repeated with a hint of more hops.
