Batch #80 - Red German Lager

Started batch on Feb 20, 2012

Recipe:

  • 6 lb Red Extract Malt (Midwest)
  • 1 lb Crystal Malt (20 Lovibond)
  • 1.0 oz hop pellets (Perle, 8.7% alpha) 60 min
  • 1.0 oz hop pallets ( Saaz, last 10 minutes
  • 1.0 oz hop pallets ( Cascade, last 3 minutes)
  • Yeast Safelager W-34/70lager type)
  • Specific gravity 1,0xx

Procedure:

Standard procedure. Fermenting in 62F in conical fermenter.

Progress log:

  • Feb 21, 2012 - fermentation every 6 seconds in the morning, every 2 seconds in the evenning.
  • Feb 22, 2012 - fermentation every 2 seconds in the morning.
  • Feb 26, 2012 - fermentation practically done. Removed 2 cups of dead yeast from the bottom of fermenter.
  • Mar 03, 2012 - removing 1 cup of sediment every day.

Evaluation:

  • Feb 2x, 2011 taste at racking to secondary:.....
