Recipe:

This is MidwestSupplies.com all grain kit. Grains ordered crushed.
  • 9.0 lb Domestic Pilsner malt
  • 6.0 oz Carafa II
  • 4.0 oz Cara Amber
  • 4.0 oz Melanoidin
  • 2.0 oz Roasted Barley
  • 1 oz. Hallertau hops for 60 min, 3.2% Alpha
  • 1 oz. Fuggle for 30 min, 4.0% Alpha
  • 4.0 oz Sinamar color extract (last 5min.)
  • Safelager S-23 ale yeast, 11 gram, no starter, prepared per package instruction.
  • Original specific gravity 1,044

Procedure:

BIAB method (Brew In A Bag).

  • Mash in 65 deg C for 60 min
  • Mash out in 75 deg C for 20 min
  • boil as usual...
  • Progress log:

    • Jan 9, 2012 - Fermentation started within 24 hours. Today morning every 4 second, every 1 sec in the evenning.
    • Jan 10, 2012- Fermentation today morning every 2seconds.
    • Jan 14, 2012 - moved to secondary.
    • Jan 19, 2012 - kegged at SG 1,012.
    • Feb 6, 2012 - moved to the fridge.

    Evaluation:

    • Feb 6, 2012 - very smooth beer. Not hoppy at all.
